About Foster Friends Volunteer Network
Foster Friends is a compassionate network of people dedicated to giving back and helping animals in need. What began as a simple effort to connect local animal lovers and save dogs in life-or-death situations has grown into a robust community of volunteers who support rescue dogs every step of the way.
At the heart of our mission are the foster homes—the halfway houses that make every rescue possible. Foster homes provide temporary safe havens for dogs who need a break from the shelter, extra medical care, or a gentle environment to regain confidence. They are essential in helping dogs transition toward their forever homes, and every moment a dog spends in a foster home increases their chance at a happy life.
Foster Friends includes several branches of volunteers, each playing a vital role:
Front Line Helpers – Individuals who alert us to animals in immediate need of rescue.
Networkers – The lifeline of every rescue. They raise awareness, fundraise for medical care, and connect dogs to temporary or permanent homes.
Transport Volunteers – Dedicated to safely moving dogs from shelters to foster homes or veterinary appointments.
Temporary Foster Homes – True angels of Match K-9 Rescue & Rehab. By opening their homes, they provide a loving, safe environment and make every rescue possible.
Donors – Supporters who pledge funds for critical medical care, ensuring that no dog is left behind.
As the old saying goes:
If you can’t adopt, foster…
If you can’t foster, sponsor…
If you can’t sponsor, volunteer…
If you can’t volunteer, donate…
If you can’t donate, educate and network…
Every small action adds up. Together, we can accomplish extraordinary things.
Foster Friends invites compassionate humans across Greenville, South Carolina, and surrounding areas to open their homes—temporarily—for dogs who need a safe landing spot. Whether a dog is recovering from medical care, nervous around new environments, or simply needs time away from a shelter cage, you can make a life-changing difference.
We cover all medical costs, food, and supplies. All we ask is that you provide a safe, loving environment and your time. Fostering is a no-cost, high-impact way to help rescue dogs on their journey to finding a forever home.
By fostering, you aren’t just saving a dog—you’re giving them the chance to thrive, heal, and find their perfect family. Every foster home is a bridge between survival and a lifetime of love.
Fostering for Puppy Protection
Becoming a temporary foster home for Puppy Protection is an very rewarding experience. It is wonderful for teaching childern about the homeless pet population in this country as well as what is required to care for a pet without the forever commitment. Many of our current foster families were hesitant at first that they or their family members might become too attached and not be able to let the foster pet go. On the contrary, what they found is the families we select for each of our adoptables are so wonderful that they are happy to see they their foster pet entering such amazing furever homes. On the rare occasion that one of our foster dogs becomes the perfect fit for the family, we are always happy to adopt to our loving fosters.
What's covered
Puppy Protection not only matches each foster family with a dog or puppy that is best suited for their particular household and lifestyle, but we also provide everything that pet will require under their care. That means it costs the foster family nothing but time, love, and support. Some of things that Puppy Protection provides for each foster dog is a crate, blanket, bowls, shampoo, and any necessary medications such as Heartworm prevention. Additionally we keep up with any necessary grooming requirements for the foster dog or puppy. Puppy Protection also provides training support if needed. What every you may need we will accommodate, after all we could not do the rescue work that we do without our loving volunteer foster families
We Need Foster Homes
Foster homes as such a crucial piece of the puzzle that allows Puppy Protection to exist. We cannot save more animals without a safe place for each of them to go until we can find the perfect home for them. That's the bottom line. We treat our foster families like royalty because they are to us. We are happy to work around the family’s travel plans or holidays. We find ways to personally say thank you to them every year. Puppy Protection hopes that you will consider this amazing way to not only give back to the homeless pets in your community, but also bring the light of a little soul in need in to your home.
