What Our Foster Homes Are Saying About the Dogs They Are Fostering

I’ve been volunteering with Puppy Protection Rescue for nearly 10 years, and in that time we’ve fostered so many incredible dogs and puppies. Every animal that has come through this organization has had a wonderful temperament, been healthy, and been matched with the right family with great care. After six months of searching for the perfect fit, we even adopted our own dog through them nine years ago—and we adore her. This rescue truly does things the right way.

I have volunteered with Puppy Protection Rescue Group since 2022, both as a foster and rescue dog transporter.

I have fostered all sizes and ages of dogs, for Puppy Protection from a 60-pound American Terrier mix recovering from heartworm treatment to a tiny little Boston Terrier puppy. I have two resident dogs of my own and Nancy has always done an amazing job of matching a foster’s energy and personality to my personal dogs assuring a great fit. All supplies and food are always provided. Sometimes I’m only needed to foster for a single night while others times might a weekend, a week or a longer-term stay.

Fostering has been very rewarding and educational. Some people are worried about fostering because they think they might “foster fail” (or want to keep the foster) but that has not been a problem for me. The Rescue makes it clear that my job as a foster mom is to keep the dog safe, fed, and provided them with socialization and basic skills, such as walking on a leash. While they do ask for videos and photos, and appreciate any social media postings you make, there is never pressure to “market” the foster on your own.

We have been fostering for puppy Protection rescue group for the last three years. My husband Rick and I are dogs and cat lovers and and thought this would be a great way to help a homeless animal. Nancy provides everything needed for each foster puppy as well as support if we every need. When we go on vacation our foster dog is provided for. We have fostered many dogs and puppies for Nancy and we highly recommend fostering. We love seeing these babies thrive in our home and getting to know each personality, but best and most fulfilling is to see the wonderful loving homes that Nancy chooses for each of them and how happy each family is to adopt such wonderful puppies!

Hello my name is Any and I had the blessing of being sweet Chihuahua Jake's foster mom. He was actually my 3rd time fostering, so I was still learning.

Each one, of course, has their own personalities and history. But I believe that what each one has in common is that they don't know exactly what is going on. They are among strangers and depending on us. When I bring them into my home, I just want them to feel safe, loved and earn their trust. That means so much to me. Especially if they have a history of neglect or abuse. For me it is an honor to see them blossom. To see what love can do.

We have worked with Puppy Protection Rescue for well over 10 years. Nancy is a diligent communicator and is easy to work with on every level. My husband and I have fostered numerous dogs for Nancy. (We have even adopted several from this rescue as well.) When we have not been in a position to foster due to various reasons, I found the perfect way to help was by “transporting” - transporting other foster dogs to and from vet appointments. I have even helped by picking up and delivering dog food. There are no “small jobs” in rescue. Every hand is needed and has something to offer a homeless pet in need!
