In-Home Consultation & Evaluation

The In-Home Consultation & Evaluation is the best place to begin with any dog or puppy. There is no substitute for observing your canine companion in his/her own environment. Many times, this single session is all that will be required for you to achieve the desired results in modifying your pup's unwanted behavior. The in-home consultation & evaluation begins by sitting down with each family and discussing the current challenges they are experiencing. We discuss each individual’s history, including training strategies that have been successful or not successful. We also listen to each family member’s concerns and ultimate training goals.

The hands-on work begins next by recreating scenarios that trigger the unwanted behavior and applying effective strategies that are specific to each dog as an individual to correct the unwanted behaviors.

Finally, we go over a maintenance plan to assist you in maintaining everything taught in the session. The in-home consultation & evaluation session is typically between 2.5 and 3 hours.

How the Training Works

Our training process is designed to help dogs overcome behavioral challenges and build better relationships with their families — all through personalized, real-world training methods.

Step 1: Training Registration Form

Everything begins with our Training Registration Form, which provides us with all the essential details about your dog — their background, behavior concerns, environment, and goals. This information allows us to tailor a training plan that fits your dog’s unique needs.

Step 2: In-Home Consultation and Full Behavior Evaluation

Next, we schedule an In-Home Consultation and Full Behavior Evaluation, typically lasting around three hours. Observing your dog in their own environment helps us see behaviors as they truly are. Dogs often act differently outside of their comfort zone, so this home-based session is crucial for identifying underlying issues and understanding what triggers certain behaviors.

Step 3: Follow-Up Sessions

After the initial evaluation, we determine the best path forward. Some dogs make tremendous progress from that first visit alone, while others benefit from follow-up sessions. These sessions may take place in your home or at a satellite location — such as a park or downtown area — where we can safely recreate real-life situations that trigger your dog’s reactivity or anxiety.

Step 4: Boarding Training

For dogs needing more focused, intensive support, we offer a Boarding Training Program. During this 30–45 day stay, your dog lives with the trainer in their home, receiving daily structure, guidance, and behavior correction. This immersive training allows for constant observation and hands-on progress. At the end of the program, we hold a Reintegration Appointment, where your dog is brought home, and you are taught everything your dog has learned — ensuring lasting success for both of you.
